Meet Summit Medical Group
When they decided to implement decision support, after evaluating some options, the team decided to implement Alex by Jellyvision — but as Summit’s team and benefits package continued to develop, they needed a sophisticated benefits platform that could scale with them. They wanted to offer streamlined benefits education for their entire benefits package offering, including their voluntary plans like Accident Insurance and Hospital Indemnity to build a better benefits experience for their employees.
Making the Switch
When we met Summit Medical Group, they were no stranger to the decision support space. A few years before coming to Nayya, the team made the decision to bring in a decision support tool for 3 main reasons:
1
Access to employees and communication challenges
The team has over 90 clinic sites, and their workforce is made up of outpatient clinic staff. HR at Summit was challenged with supporting benefits communication and education that was personalized and could actually reach those outpatient staff members who didn’t spend much time online or checking email.
The team was looking to educate more employees on their HDHP offering and increase HSA utilization.
Summit had introduced a PPO plan the year prior to implementing Nayya. For their first open enrollment with Nayya, Summit was looking to help employees understand the HDHP in more detail to ensure people who were best suited for the HDHP would feel comfortable enrolling in the plan and taking advantage of the HSA available to them.
3
The fact that employees were actively seeking advice
“We often get the same questions over and over again about which plan should I choose? We can’t really provide that advice,” said Kara Brown, Director Comp & Benefits, Summit Medical Group.

The team knew that many members of their organization made their decisions with their partners or families, so they wanted to provide a benefits education tool that employees could access from home.
Summit Medical Group has 400+ providers, 90+ clinic sites, 17 counties, and over 370K patients across the state of Tennessee. Prior to their Open Enrollment in 2021, they decided to implement Nayya to improve benefits literacy, drive HDHP confidence, and bolster employee satisfaction, attraction, and retention.
“We were using a different decision support tool, but their platform wasn’t really evolving or changing that much — it felt stagnant. We felt that as our company was growing, the benefits we were offering were growing and changing, and we really wanted a partner who could grow with us and who could help our employees navigate more than just their health insurance. That’s why we decided to transition to Nayya.”

Solution
As Summit Medical’s contract with their previous tool was set to renew, the team met with their Broker to understand their options and decided it might be in their best interest to explore what else was out there.

The team at Summit Medical Group found that Nayya was a robust benefits platform that could scale with them for years to come.
In addition to personalized decision support for health insurance, Nayya could also educate employees about both existing and new voluntary benefits plans. Rather than receiving multiple, siloed pieces of information about benefits offerings, Nayya could deliver a bundled recommendation to employees as part of a single, unified process.
They also loved that implementation with Nayya was simple, and that a lot of their product feedback was taken into consideration or even put into the pipeline for future enhancements.
“We appreciate that our feedback is really taken to heart, and a lot of changes we requested were made or were put in the pipeline for improvements down the road. We've seen some of those being implemented already!"

Improve benefits literacy and employee confidence, especially around HDHPs
Increase HSA Contributions to drive both employee and employer tax savings
Reduce HR burden — their new benefits strategy saves them “several hours” leading up to OE
Increase benefits satisfaction, improving talent attraction and retention efforts
“There is a strong correlation between total rewards and retaining and attracting talent. Making sure that you're educating your employees on their benefits and helping them understand their options is a key factor in employee satisfaction with those benefits. There’s data to support that employees who understand their benefits are more appreciative of those benefits and value them more.”
